Single Point Of Access

The Norfolk and Waveney MSK Single Point of Access (SPoA) provides a simplified single route to access specialist MSK services.
The SPoA ensure that all referrals arrive at the right place and are accessible to the right people, eliminating confusion and inconsistencies and improving the referral process for all of our health and social care partners.

What is the SPoA?

The Norfolk and Waveney MSK SPoA is an easily accessible, centralised route for referrals into our MSK services.

All referrals, regardless of where they originate, will flow into our service where they are reviewed and triaged by our clinical staff, ensuring the patient is directed to the most appropriate service quickly and efficiently.

Why have you got an SPoA?

As part of our MSK service transformation, we reviewed current working practices and referral options and recognised that a variety of referral pathways and processes exist. Recognising this, and wanting to simplify the process for our referrers, a single point for all referrals was created.

What are the benefits of an SPoA?

A single point for all referrals aims to assist our health and social colleagues by providing a simple route for patients needing our care, thus reducing any confusion and the possibility of patients being delayed in accessing the care they need.

How do I access the SPoA?

You can find out how you can access our services on our self-referral and referring to us pages, however we’ve summarised the key points below.

If you use SystmOne, you have a choice as to how you can refer your patients to us. You can quickly and easily send a direct SystmOne referral to us (this will be available to all of Norfolk and Waveney imminently) or you can refer your patients using this form and send completed forms to nowmsk@ecchcic.nhs.uk

You can use the SystmOne e-referral function for any eligible patient (please see our referring to us page for inclusion/ exclusion criteria).

*This form is in the process of being uploaded to your clinical systems and should be available soon, if not already available.

You can use our email referral form and send completed referrals to nowmsk@ecchcic.nhs.uk

The NHS e-Referral Service (Choose and Book) can only be used for patients who are being referred to the Musculoskeletal Assessment and Triage service (formerly known as Orthopaedic/MSK Triage) for secondary-care referral assessment.

This should also use the new standardised referral form which should be completed and attached into the NHS e-Referral Service submission (previously Choose and Book) – selecting the option “Norfolk & Waveney Musculoskeletal Assessment and Triage Service (MATS)”.
